What Is Accoya® Wood?
Accoya® is solid wood that has been modified through acetylation — not treated with chemicals, not impregnated, and not coated. The process works by changing the wood’s own cell structure using acetic anhydride, a compound derived from wood itself. This permanently alters the wood at a molecular level, so the timber no longer absorbs moisture the way untreated wood does. Nothing toxic is added and nothing washes out over time, which is what separates Accoya® from pressure-treated or chemically preserved alternatives. The result is a solid, fast-growing softwood that performs like a slow-growing tropical hardwood — without the environmental cost of harvesting one.
This is the material LALA® uses across every product line, and the reason we describe ourselves as an Accoya® wood specialist serving Croatia and the UAE: it’s the only modified wood we trust for outdoor furniture, decking and façade cladding built to last decades, not seasons.
